COMMUNITY INFORMATION

PEMBERTON

The area was the traditional territory of First Nations peoples of the Interior Salish tribe. Now home to 2,500 residents, Pemberton is the fastest growing community in British Columbia and has seen many changes since the first European settlers came to the area more than 100 years ago. The vibrant community has a casual small town feel with a wide range of amenities making it particularly attractive to first-time owners and young families. Pemberton and the Valley also offer prime vacant land for commercial operations, residential developments, and farm and grazing land.

The Pemberton Valley is known for its virus-free seed potatoes, for which is it a major supplier across North America, and is affectionately referred to as "Spud Valley" by locals.

Considered by many outdoor enthusiasts as the "Gateway to Backcountry Adventure" the Pemberton Valley is a popular destination for snowmobiling, horseback riding, backcountry skiing, golfing, hiking, rafting, jet boating and gliding, with camping at three nearby provincial parks. An airport provides access for fixed wing and helicopter traffic.

Pemberton Valley was the starting point for the 1996 Eco-Challenge Adventure Race and in 2008 the Pemberton Festival drew 40,000 music fans over four days to see 120 artists the likes of Cold Play and Tom Petty.
